What is SAP MDM?
MDM is the process of creating and maintaining a single master record for each person, place, and thing in a business.
What is SAP MDG?
SAP Master Data Governance (SAP MDG) enables businesses to consolidate and govern master data.
Let's see how MDM came into action
Earlier Data Is not in Proper way.
MDM came up with - 04 Things.
Console - store the basic info. table & str. data
Import Manager - Load the data using Excel.
Data Manager - Data is going to view like MM, Supp., Customer etc...
Syndicator - Data Replication purpose MDM to Target Sys.
How MDM relates MDG?
The Origin of MDG is MDM
Know about SAP MDM
MDM address the data issues & manage the data,
MDM whatever the kind of workflow MDM is off that is a very simple workflow & User friendly, some of the organization has some certain complexes or business process which makes difficult, not quite user-friendly to implement through MDM.
SAP Product will always prefer to solve on going problems & complex solutions with user friendly.
Why SAP Released a new product SAP MDG, even SAP MDM is there.
After Several Years SAP/Customer observe that whenever we have some complex derivation validation whenever we have some complex business process workflow or whenever we have some complex replication activity in those areas MDM is not much user-friendly.
From that particular point, SAP Realised & released a product SAP MDG.
Differences between SAP MDM Vs SAP MDG
What is the basic difference, so I can see whatever we can be able to do in MDM or MDG what really makes difference in between this two the
First difference is,
MDM has written on C, C++.
MDG has written on ABAP.
***ABAP
ABAP one and only programming language of SAP & definitely from business point of view will make a major focus on this MDG, as ABAP will run at backend & more user friendly.
Second difference is,
Major point is the kind of workflow which we use here in MDM which is a simple one, but in MDG we use rule-based one which is nothing but the advanced one along with BRF+, In case of BRF+ defines different kind of business rules and by using this rule based workflow we can design complex to complex situation or complex to complex in the customer scenarios in a very simple way.
Coming to MDM,
The workflow which given not user friendly & it's difficult in complex scenarios.
Final Conclusion
Majority of the customers are moving towards MDG.
